Episode 7 – Mean Girls, Janelle Monae, Community, Failure [the FAILCAST]

Weed: This week’s weed strain is a hand-blended, Jeff special – a combination of Girl Scout Cookie and Trainwreck, he calls it Mean Girls.  It is a no-fucking-around high!

Music (Laicy): Janelle Monae is the music this week with her song So Afraid.  We love her!

We referenced the DMT documentary on Netflix again – DMT:The Spirit Molecule (Netflix)

Fun topic (Jeff): Community.  Altho Mean Girls drives that off track pretty quickly and things go downhill from there.

Article about how community shapes morals

Scholarly article about how sociologists define community

Numerous studies talk about the impact of community and how community identity creates both solidarity and ‘other’ (a group outside the community that is excluded from and potentially harmed by the community).  Here’s an article about a little of that (there are hundreds)

Serious topic (Paul): failure.  At this point in the show, we can’t even remember where we are, so the topic of failure IS a failure.  We were next level high.  I tried to edit it down to something coherent, but it is debatable how successful I was.

Edison’s quote about light bulbs – “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

Either this is great or it is our first episode failure due to being too high… behold… the FAILCAST!  Tell us what you think.

Special announcement – Martha and Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party is back on the air!  If you are not watching it, please start.  It is the most amazing thing on television!  (The Nick Offerman / Amy Poehler show Making It is also quite good)
